Even though Spring has “officially arrived” on the calendar, the weather often takes longer to cooperate up here on the Northern prairies.
So, I’ve learned it’s best to make my own weather.
Fake it till you make it … create the illusion of Spring!
One of my favourite spots to decorate for the seasons in my home is the fireplace mantel.
It’s visible from every spot on the main floor.
It is out of reach of little hands.
I put things on it that make me happy and bring me joy every time I look at them.
I found this beautiful lantern on sale at Crate and Barrel a few years ago. It adds height and looks so pretty with a candle burning inside.
I love to decorate with wreaths. I have one for every season. Right now I’m using a beautiful Smith & Hawken Boxwood Wreath that I picked up on sale at Target before they closed their doors here in Canada. (Insert tears here.)
Incorporating pieces of nature is one of my favourite ways of decorating. A few summers ago we purchased some beautiful pieces of driftwood from a friend who had brought them straight from the West coast. We have driftwood all throughout the house to give it more of a coastal/lake house feel.
I love the pop of colour on the adorable birdhouse that I found at our local Home Sense.
And of course adding some greenery – fake or real definitely says “SPRING IS HERE!”
If you do not have a fireplace mantel to decorate, floating shelves or book cases are also great spots to add some beautiful decore that you know will stay safe away from little hands.
I’d love to hear what your favourite elements are to a Spring Mantel.
Beautiful Sarah. I’ve always loved how the season shines forth from your mantel story!
Thanks, mom! My biggest fan!
