If you only prioritize one thing for your child’s If you only prioritize one thing for your child’s education, make it this.👇

Read aloud. As consistently as you can.

Start when they are small and keep going through the teen years. The benefits reach far beyond academics. Vocabulary, comprehension, empathy, connection. It builds something in your family that is hard to put into words.

Audiobooks count. The library is free. And if you need a place to start, @readaloudrevival has been a favorite resource in our home.

Drop your favorite read aloud in the comments. I would love to add to our list. 📚

A homeschool day does not need a minute by minute A homeschool day does not need a minute by minute schedule. It needs anchor points: a simple, repeatable rhythm that gives your family a sense of flow without locking you into a timeline that real life will disrupt anyway.

In our home it looks something like this.👇

Morning read aloud to gather everyone and start the day.
A shared lesson where everyone is learning the same topic at their own level.
Individual reading and writing instruction.
Independent math.
Lunch. Quiet reading time.
And then an open afternoon for outdoor time, errands, appointments, art, science, and whatever life brings.

That is it. Simple, flexible, and sustainable.

Your rhythm will look different than mine and it should. The goal is not to copy someone else’s schedule. The goal is to find the anchor points that work for your family and build from there.

Start with one or two non-negotiables: a morning read aloud, a grounding practice, a consistent start time, and let the rest take shape around them.

🌱Rhythms flex. Rigid schedules break. Choose the rhythm.

This is Reel 9 in my Just Getting Started series for moms who are new to homeschooling or just beginning to consider it. If this series is speaking to you, I created a free guide to help you take your first steps with confidence. 🔗Link in bio!

❤️ A rhythm you can live in is worth more than a perfect schedule you cannot.

One of my favorite parts of the homeschool lifesty One of my favorite parts of the homeschool lifestyle is the freedom to follow the weather.

Fifteen years in the public school classroom taught me how much kids genuinely need to be outside. Homeschooling finally gave us the freedom to act on it.

🌱Research backs this up. A systematic review of 147 studies found that learning in natural outdoor settings is linked to increased student engagement, academic improvement, stronger social skills, and improved self-concept. More recent research connects outdoor learning to gains in literacy, physical health, and social-emotional development.

The classroom is valuable. So is the backyard.

👇Tell me in the comments: what is your favorite way to do school outside on a beautiful day? I would love to hear what works for your family.

If you are homeschooling in Alberta🇨🇦, here is som If you are homeschooling in Alberta🇨🇦, here is something that will simplify one of your earliest decisions.👇

You have two options when it comes to learning outcomes.

1️⃣The first is Home Education Learning Outcomes: 22 broad, flexible outcomes that give you significant freedom to design your child’s education from kindergarten through grade twelve. This is the path most parent-directed families choose.

2️⃣The second is province-specific outcomes: approximately 1400 outcomes per grade, aligned with the traditional school system and designed to move a student toward a government issued diploma.

👉Neither is the wrong choice. They simply serve different goals. And if your family’s goals change along the way, you can switch paths. You are not making a permanent decision. You are making the best decision for THIS season.

🌍Outside of Alberta? Your province or state will have its own version of this framework. The first step is always the same: find out what options exist where you live and choose what fits your family right now.

This is Reel 8 in my Just Getting Started series for moms who are new to homeschooling or just beginning to consider it. If this series is speaking to you, like, follow and share so this content reaches more moms who are exploring homeschool.❤️

You are not locked in. You are just getting started.👏

Whatever this week holds, you are not walking into Whatever this week holds, you are not walking into it alone.

His strength is made available to you in every ordinary, faithful moment.

If you are mustering up the strength to be enough this week, remember that you just need to show up. He does the rest.

Revisit this verse, Philippians 4:13, whenever you need that reminder this week.

How can I pray for you? 🙏🏻
