Spring decore is my favourite!
It’s the time of year when the snow is F I N A L L Y melting and I can embrace pops of colour and lots of greenery! Basically, give me all the pink flowers and little green plants and I’m a happy girl!
I’m really enjoying the fresh white walls that we painted this past summer. We chose White Dove by Benjamen Moore and it is the perfect “warm yet bright” white that goes with everything. The pops of colour and the warm wood tones of my Madelovli shelves look extra crisp against a white wall.
I’m finding that less is more and simple is best when adding decore to open shelving.
The open shelving is an extension of our kitchen so we wanted it to be useful as much as it is pleasing to look at. Our white Crate and Barrel mixing bowls are used on a regular basis along with the wine glasses! (Any other red wine lovers out there?)
This space in our home gets loads of natural light so I recently added a little succulent garden to the open shelving.
I found these sweet succulents at our local Home Depot for a steal of a deal! They run at $3.99 – $5.99 a plant! They are very low maintenance and add the pop of green that I am craving at this time of year!
I picked up all of these planters at either HomeSense or IKEA. At HomeSense, the plant holder with galvanized steel paired with a wood handle had me at first sight. And lately I have a thing for pineapples, so when I saw this white pineapple plant pot I snapped it up!
If you do not have a green thumb, a fake plant still does the trick. The plant in the pineapple is from IKEA along with the small galvanized steel and white plant pots on the middle shelf.
There’s nothing that beats the smell and look of fresh flowers. Jason picked up a bouquet of gorgeous pinky-peach roses (insert heart eyes emoji here) and light pink tulips from Costco for Easter (husband of the year!). I enjoy separating the flowers into smaller vases and having them all over the house instead of in one spot. I used a simple mason jar to hold 3 roses.
The “Bon Appetit” sign was made by a local vendor and sold at my niece and nephews’ annual “Family Marketplace” fundraiser for their school and the white soup tureen was a Christmas gift from years ago.
If you are looking to style a shelf or two in your home here are my go-to tips:
- Less is more
- Add plants & flowers – fake or real
- Include a variety of textures – wood, steel, glass & ceramic finishes are my favourites
- Include items that are both beautiful and useful
- Have neutral items mixed with pops of colour
